For many years Americans were considered British citizens and had to pay taxes to them. In 1773 the population of America revolted for the first time. Bostonians refused to pay taxes to Britain for tea imports. In order to express their protest, the Americans threw the tea boxes that had arrived on board the ship into the port waters. This event is called the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was the first stage in the American settlers' struggle for independence. Britain sent in its army to quell the rebellion, which sparked the United States' war of independence. One of the most important factors for the rise of the American Revolution was taxes, which constituted the taxes imposed on the colonies

Civil war

The American Civil War (1861-1865), or the war between the states and it is called by several other names, is a civil war that took place in the United States of America, where eleven states of the South, under the leadership of Jefferson Davis, declared secession from the United States and established the Confederate States of America. And declared war on the Union of the United States led by Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was elected as the anti-slavery Republican Party candidate for president in 1860. Before he took office, seven states declared their secession and formed the Confederate States of America, which the federal government considered illegal. With the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter, the American Civil War broke out and four pro-slavery states joined the Confederacy.

Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in all states. After the Union victory in 1865, there were three constitutional amendments guaranteeing freedom to about four million African Americans who were slaves, who became citizens and had the right to vote. The war greatly increased federal power. The civil war remains the deadliest conflict in the country's history, with some 620,000 soldiers killed.
